The fresh bite of apple makes this tart ready to enjoy with a cup of tea in the afternoon or with a scoop of ice cream for dessert.

For crust:
1 cup flour
3 tablespoons sugar
½ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1½ oz (3 tablespoons) Lurpak®® Unsalted Butter, chilled
1 egg
1 tablespoon cold water

For filling:
3 large baking apples, such as granny smith, empires, or stayman
4 tablespoons sugar
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

For glaze:
½ cup apricot preserves, apple jelly or red current jelly
2 teaspoons water

Tools:
9-inch fluted tart pan with removable bottom

What you need:

  • For crust:
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1½ oz (3 tablespoons) Lurpak Unsalted Butter, chilled
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon cold water
  •
  • For filling:
  • 3 large baking apples, such as granny smith, empires, or stayman
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  •
  • For glaze:
  • ½ cup apricot preserves, apple jelly or red current jelly
  • 2 teaspoons water
  •
  • Tools:
  • 9-inch fluted tart pan with removable bottom

What to do:

  1. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in food processor, pulse to mix. Add butter, pulse to a fine crumb. Add egg and water, pulse until dough forms a ball. (If wrapped tightly and refrigerated, dough holds for several days.)
  2. Roll dough on a lightly floured surface into a 12-inch circle. Carefully transfer dough to the tart pan and gently press it into the sides and bottom. Remove excess dough as needed. Set aside.
  3. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  4. Peel, core and halve apples. Cut apple halves into ¼-inch slices, not separating the slices. One at a time, transfer apple halves to the tart shell and fan the slices around the outside rim of the shell.
  5. Combine the sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle over the apples. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 45 minutes. Once baked, remove and cool tart in the pan.
  6. Bring the apricot preserves and water to a boil. Remove from the heat and liberally brush mixture over the apples. Remove tart from shell and serve warm or at room temperature. Perfect with ice cream or whipped cream.

An 8-oz package of Lurpak® Unsalted Butter = 1 cup (16 tablespoons) or 2 sticks
