Banana Chocolate Tart

Makes 8 servings

Chocolate on chocolate with a touch of banana! This tart dresses up for a fancy dinner or dresses down for the family dinner.

What you need:

  • For the chocolate crust:
  • 1 cup flour  
  • 3 tablespoons sugar  
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder  
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder  
  • ¼ teaspoon salt  
  • ¼ package Lurpak® Unsalted butter, cut into small pieces  
  • 1 egg  
  • 1 tablespoon water  
  •  
  • For the chocolate banana filling:
  • ¾ cup milk  
  • 1/3 cup sugar  
  • 1 tablespoon Lurpak® Unsalted butter  
  • 4 ounces dark chocolate  
  • 2 eggs  
  • ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon  
  • 3 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced  
  •  
  • Baking pan:
  • 9-inch tart pan with removable bottom 

What to do:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Prepare crust: Combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in the bowl of a food processor. Add butter and pulse until a fine crumb. Add egg and water, pulse until dough forms. Transfer to a lightly floured surface.
  3. Roll dough into an 11-inch round disk. Transfer to tart shell and gently press dough into the sides and bottom of pan. Trim off excess dough.
  4. Prepare filling: Combine milk, sugar, and butter in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add chocolate. Whisk until chocolate melts. Add eggs and cinnamon; whisk to blend. Arrange banana in crust and cover with custard mixture.
  5. Bake until filling is set and the crust in baked through, about 35 minutes. Cool completely before cutting into slices.
