History

Over the past hundred years, the Lurpak® brand of butter has been transformed from a simple, natural commodity produced in Denmark into an international symbol of quality. Join us in celebrating our story.

Introduction

Lurpak® Danish butter has been proudly produced since 1901. It is here shown with the original serial tags used to indicate the specific dairy that made the butter.

The story of Lurpak® is one that begins in Denmark – a country ten times smaller than the butter brand’s No. 1 customer, the United Kingdom. The milk used to create the trademark butter is supplied by 8,000 co-operative dairy farmers. No other country has taken a commitment to quality in dairy produce to such levels as Denmark has. At the core of the brand’s rise as the world’s pre-eminent butter lies a national pride in the foremost product to come out of Denmark’s agricultural industry.
